Mangroves restoration and conservation as nature base solution for economic and climate issues at shoreline of Ulmera village, Liquica municipality of Timor-Leste.
In December 2024, the mangroves friend group and communities planted 10,000 mangroves seedlings with 2m size per tree. Due to the native plants, the survival rate was estimated at 80%. The activity implemented BY NETIL and supported by ABIC of ASEAN, UNDP Indonesia.
In the year of 2017-2023, the group already planted 184,000 mangroves seedlings with 1m size per tree. Due to the native plants, the survival rate was estimated at 80%. The Activity was implemented by Mangroves group and supported by the relevant government institutions in Timor-Leste.
Total pure mangroves areas of 62 hectares in Ulmera village. Areas planted 21 hectares with 200,000 trees. NETIL seeks for potential investors to unlock financial, expertise, technologies, stakeholder and community engagement, and market access for blue carbon sequestration and scaling up blue carbon farming.
